Samford to host 2009 conference

For the first time in 23 years, Samford University in Birmingham will host the Alabama Baptist State Evangelism Conference, set for Feb. 23–24, 2009.

"It will be an honor for Samford to host the 2009 [Evangelism Conference]," said Samford President Andrew Westmoreland. "For many pastors who attend the meeting, it may be their first opportunity to visit our campus.

"During this time of spiritual renewal and celebration, we will do our best to make our guests feel at home," he said. "I’m pleased that Samford continues to be a great resource for Alabama Baptists."

Sammy Gilbreath, director of the office of evangelism for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, said the student body will be a part of the event, with students singing, sharing testimonies and attending sessions, as well as serving in other roles. Leaders are also looking for ways to involve the educational resources of Samford’s Beeson Divinity School during breakout sessions.

"We are excited about the possibilities there and excited about involving the campus," Gilbreath said. (TAB)
