Samford’s Price honored by Baylor

Milburn Price, recently retired dean of the school of performing arts at Samford University in Birmingham, has received the Award for Exemplary Leadership in Church Music from Baylor University.
He is a 1963 Baylor grad.

The award is given by Baylor’s center for Christian music studies and recognizes a Baylor grad who has contributed significantly to church-music ministry.

“Milburn Price has been a model and a mentor to hundreds of church musicians, educators and administrators,” said Randall Bradley, director of the center.

For his choral compositions and arrangements, Price has received an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Composer’s Award each year since 1979. He also has hymn texts and tunes included in both 1975 and 1991 editions of “The Baptist Hymnal.” (TAB)
