Sand Valley Baptist Church, Centre, celebrated its 150th anniversary Oct. 20. Jason Smith, a former pastor, was the guest preacher. Music was provided by current and former church members. During the service, the church received special recognitions: a framed certificate from the Alabama State House of Representatives, along with two presentations made by Wendell Dutton, director of missions of Cherokee Baptist Association and a commissioner of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission. David Jenkins is pastor.
