SAT-7 conference urges reconciliation

NICOSIA, Cyprus — Christian leaders were called to be reconcilers in uncertain times during an October conference of SAT-7, the satellite television station for Christians of the Middle East and North Africa.

More than 120 mission and church leaders attended the seventh international conference. The delegates, who had traveled from North America, Europe and the Middle East to attend, heard how the media and the television industry offer a great platform to encourage the dwindling and often suffering church in the very birthplace of Christianity.

“The hour is serious — in the face of a world at war there emerges a primary task for Christian groups operating in the region. The urgent mission is to be Christ’s ambassadors of reconciliation,” said Habib Badr, senior pastor of the National Evangelical Church of Beirut and chairman of SAT-7. Badr declared that a golden opportunity exists to work for peace in the region. He encouraged SAT-7 partner agencies to continue to empower the work of the television station as it broadcasts relevant programs.

“The Unequal Half” was a theme of the conference, referring to the unreached and marginalized women of the Middle East.
