One Noise
Dream Records
Satellites & Sirens’ new project, the group’s first for Dream Records, continues the guitar and synth pop/rock of their earlier records, albeit considerably toned down from earlier efforts. “One Noise” sounds like the “made for radio” version of the music they’ve become famous for. Perhaps that contrast is because their earlier record, “Frequency,” set such a high mark for energy and creativity. Whether the change is because of their new record label or because of a shift in their musical sensibilities will have to be answered by future projects.
The good news is that there’s enough of the old Satellites & Sirens to satisfy their existing fans, although there will almost certainly be complaints that much of their former edginess is missing. This record is considerably more diverse than their previous offerings and includes both their trademark high-energy pop/rock anthems as well as some very credible slow worship tracks. As always, vocals are impressive, and lead singer Geoff Hunker sounds as good as ever.
Overall this is another good record for Satellites & Sirens, and their kinder, gentler approach may just win over a new following.
