With a purpose to inform and inspire writers, the 2013 Southern Christian Writers Conference (SCWC) will be held at First Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa, June 7–8.
Featured keynote speakers will be Bruce Barbour and Angela Hunt. Barbour co-founded Barbour and Company, which today is a leading Christian publisher. His keynote address will be “Do You Need a Publisher To Be a Published Author?” Hunt, whose keynote address will be “Secrets To Being a Successful Writer,” is an award-winning Christian author.
Barbour and Hunt also will conduct instructional workshop sessions along with 15 other editors, publishers and writers who will serve as SCWC speakers. Additional speakers include Staci Brown Brooks, director of Birmingham local news for al.com, and Julie Gwinn, fiction editor at B&H Publishing Group.
Workshop registration begins June 7 at 11 a.m. in the First, Tuscaloosa, education building, with sessions following from 1–9 p.m. Registration June 8 begins at 8 a.m. with sessions from 8:45 a.m.–4 p.m. Session topics include “Working with an Agent,” “How to Get Your First Novel Published” and “The Do’s and Don’ts of Self-Publishing.”
