SEBTS elects first female trustee chair

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Becky Gardner was elected chair of trustees at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, during their annual meeting April 8–10. Gardner is believed to be the first female trustee chair for a Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) seminary, according to Southeastern’s examination of SBC Annuals.

A trustee since 2010, Gardner is superintendent of Peoria Christian School in Peoria, Illinois, and a member of Woodland Baptist Church, Peoria.

Another milestone during the trustee meeting was the election of faculty member Adrianne Miles as assistant professor of English and linguistics, the first female elected to the Southeastern faculty in 15 years. (BP)
