See You at the Pole calls students to ‘engage’

Nearly 50 students gathered to pray around the flagpole of Hartselle High School on Sept. 23, taking up the challenge to engage their school, community and world for God’s glory.

They were just a few of the thousands who gathered at hundreds of elementary, middle and high schools around the state for the 20th-annual See You at the Pole (SYATP) event, promoted heavily by First Priority of America. Although schools in every state around the nation participate in SYATP, “it’s become more than just an American thing. It’s a worldwide spiritual phenomenon,” said Greg Davis, president of First Priority Greater Birmingham, noting the event’s expansion to countries like Australia and Canada.

The theme for this year was “ENGAGE: Go and Pray,” encouraging students to stir up an awakening, with a passion to “[g]o and pray to God for me and for the people” (2 Kings 22:13). (TAB)
