Seminary facility to bear Martha Myers’ name

Martha Myers’ name will live on and inspire future generations of missionaries at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo.

The Montgomery native, murdered while an International Mission Board (IMB) missionary is Yemen in 2002, now has the seminary’s evangelism training facility named in her honor.

The facility is the William Koehn and Martha Myers Center for World Evangelism. Koehn, a fellow missionary slain in Yemen, attended Midwestern in 1974 and Myers in 1977.

Ira Myers-Martha Myers’ father-along with Rick Evans, pastor of Dalraida Baptist Church, Montgomery-Martha’s church- presented $50,000 to a $2.1 million capital campaign to renovate the 35,000 squeare-foot building that will house the center and the Midwestern Bible College, SBC, a separate entity from the seminary.

Ira Myers also gave Midwestern an album chronicling his daughter’s ministry through photos, articles and prose. Representatives from the IMB compiled the album, which will be placed inside the facility’s main entrance.
