Carol Sentell is an “everyday missionary,” carrying out a ministry of counseling people over the telephone. She is determined to continue ministering to those who may cross her path.

Q: What led you to the ministry of counseling?
A: Early on, I realized that I had a gift for listening and a compassionate heart. I was saved when I was 11 years old, and after the Holy Spirit entered in, He began impressing upon me that this person or that person needed help. My ministry has evolved over the years, and I see it as God ordained.

Q: What does the ministry demand?
A: I start my day by talking with the Lord, and I’ll ask the Lord what He wants me to remember from His Word that may apply to people’s situations that I will encounter that day. I also ask Him to anoint me for His work. This business of living for Jesus has to be just one day at a time. I want to decrease and Him to increase. I try to work under the power of the Holy Spirit to know what to say or how to help [people] with their dilemma.

Q: What do you get from the ministry?
A: I get a closer walk with the Lord, and that to me is what it’s all about. It’s the feeling of accomplishment and peace that you and the Lord are in this together.

Q: How do family members support you?
A: They allow me to be myself. They accept me and don’t criticize me. They understand that this is what I plan to do the rest of my life — to proclaim the gospel in my circle wherever I am.

Q: What difference will this ministry make for you in the future?
A: I will be striving to be more and more in the center of the Father’s perfect will, and by having ministered to others, it will bring more peace of mind and heart to me.
