Keeps On Changing
North Point Music
On Aug. 27 Seth Condrey released “Keeps On Changing,” his first English language solo project for North Point Music. His last release was a Spanish language record, and he garnered Dove’s Spanish Language Album of the Year award for an earlier album.
Production was by Dove Award-winning producer Phillip LaRue, who also contributed to the songwriting effort. Other songwriting help came from four-time GMA Dove Award winner Ed Cash, Mike Donehey, Seth Mosley and others.
I often cringe when I keep throwing out “award-winning this-or-that” in describing an album, but it does give insight into what we might expect from a new record.
In this case, the insight is dead-on. This is a really good record, more contemplative than his others, and less rock oriented. “God of the Impossible” is perhaps the closest to rock that the record offers, and even here there’s more pop than rock.
Condrey describes this project as “the story of my life,” with musical stories of failure, grace, love and trust. Indeed this record seems very personal and inward looking. The message here is clear to all Christians looking to make sense of this messy life.
