For all the slick, millennial brooding of the album art  — including the fold-out, mic-swallowing rock-out photo — and their respectably hip coifs and clothes, Sevenglory comes out of the speakers in a very adult, radio kind of way.

The cutting-edge pop aesthetic lends itself to expectations of power chords and screams yet delivers tunes barely edgier than Hanson or the Goo Goo Dolls — and that’s stretching it.

Not that the record is by any means bad; it’s just that despite the market to which it’s aimed, “Over The Rooftops” would make a better gift for a parent than a teenager or at least the brand of teenagers we’re made to believe the members of Sevenglory were, and not so long ago.

It’s a solid, gentle effort but nothing terribly exciting. Recommended for fans of “City of Angels”-era Goo Goo Dolls.
