Two committees, the Credentials Committee and the Tellers Committee, were appointed during the state convention’s opening session Nov. 13. The Committee on Committees also was named during the Tuesday sessions.
State convention President Mike Shaw, pastor of First Baptist Church, Pelham, in Shelby Baptist Association announced the appointments 30 days prior to the annual meeting in accordance with bylaw requirements, but messengers had to ratify the appointments during the meeting.
The convention Credentials Committee helps with problems regarding registration and seating of messengers.
Serving as chairman of the committee was Jim Graham, Coosada, Coosada. Serving with him were Ben Birdsong, First, Pelham; Charlie Dale, First, Indian Springs; Dean Finch, Taylor Road, Montgomery; W. Greg Hyche, Brent, Brent; Jim Jackson, First, Tallassee; and Kip McKee, Silver Run, Seale.
Tellers Committee members helped convention officers tabulate convention votes.
Brad Bakane, Gilbertown, Gilbertown, served as chairman. Other members were Mike Allums, James Memorial, Gadsden; Art Long, Eastmont, Montgomery; Ernie Price, Farmstead, Jasper; Steven Scarborough, Refuge, Tallassee; *Patti Shoemaker, First, Montgomery; and Jay T. Stewart, Dwight, Gadsden.
The following also were elected to serve on the Committee on Committees until 2015: Buddy Champion, First, Trussville, chair; Johnny Fain, First, Dothan; and Teman Knight, Heritage, Montgomery.
