Shelby Baptist Association on mission

Shelby Baptist Association took 57 people representing eight of its churches to Monroe, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, to participate in a Builders for Christ project July 6–10.

Among the team members were four generations of one family. Lila George participated in the missions trip along with her son Norman “Corky” George, granddaughter Erin Hayes and great-grandson Will Hayes.

“The George family has been with us on all the (Builders for Christ) trips,” said Hugh Richardson, director of missions for Shelby Association.

“It shows the heritage of a missions-minded family as they go to serve together.”

The team helped construct a new building for First Baptist Church, Monroe. It finished insulation work, hung Sheetrock and completed a porch for the new building.

“It was a wonderful trip,” Lila George said. “Once you do it, you always want to do it again.”

Richardson added, “It was a successful trip, as it helped to build relationships between the churches that participated.”
