Betty Sue Shepherd, longtime organist and retired Samford University professor, died Aug. 2. She was 77.
Shepherd retired this year after 50 years of teaching piano at Samford. She also recently retired as organist at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church in Birmingham Association after 38 years. Prior to that, she served 14 years as organist at the former Ruhama Baptist Church, Birmingham.
Shepherd graduated from Judson College, earned her master’s from the University of Alabama and studied at Julliard School of music.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil, and is survived by two daughters and two grandchildren. (TAB)
