Shocco to host preteen weekend

Shocco to host preteen weekend

Shocco Springs Baptist Conference Center in Talladega will host its Pre-teen Extreme Weekend on Feb. 27–28 for fourth, fifth and sixth graders in the Adventure Camp facilities at Shocco.

It will be an “incredible weekend for preteens” said Ric Callahan, retreat director. Grades four through six are “some of the most important years spiritually and relationally for children. … We think a weekend away from home is the perfect opportunity for preteens to really dig into their faith and learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.”

The weekend includes activities like hiking in the woods, bonfires, paddleboats and many more extreme games.

Paige, who went to the 2014 camp, said, “The games were crazy and the canoes were fun too.”

According to the 2014 campers, they are able to have fun with friends while worshipping God together.

Jack, who also attended the 2014 camp, said, “I really liked getting to know some new friends from other churches.”

The 2nd annual extreme tribal challenge will take place Saturday and illusionist Scott Humston will be the special guest for the weekend.

According to J.T., a former camper, it is a great time to make new friends, study God’s Word and worship the King of Kings but don’t expect to get much sleep.

Worship and teaching times are a big part of the weekend but it also is packed full of fun activities, Callahan said.
