Shrink the Divide gathering set for tonight in Mobile

Christian community development leader John Perkins (left) and Alabama Baptist pastor Ed Litton participated in a news conference at the Mobile Civic Center this afternoon prior to the Shrink the Divide gathering, which starts up at 6:30 p.m.

The idea for the gathering developed from a group of Mobile-area ministers and business and civic leaders who have been meeting for the past three years to intentionally bring healing to wounds and divisions between various ethnic groups in Mobile.

Tonight’s gathering will be held at the Mobile Civic Center Theater. Leaders hope it results in more biblical love being practiced between people.

“The goal is that this gathering will inspire and help us as citizens of our community to act in kindness and love with the desire to understand each other for the glory of God and the betterment of the Mobile community,” according to leaders in a press release promoting the event.
