Singer/songwriter Roberts shares about God’s glory

When she was just 5 years old, singer/songwriter Kerrie Roberts was the youngest member of her church’s choir and had to stand on a milk crate to see over the choir partition.

However, it didn’t stop her dynamic voice from resonating with audiences.

Now all grown up, the purity and richness in Roberts’ soulful voice continues to inspire audiences as she sings about the majesty and glory of God.

In 2010, Roberts made her grand entrance into the Christian music scene with her self-titled debut album, featuring the hit single “No Matter What.”

Roberts was inspired to write this song after her father preached a sermon about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

“The sermon focused on the moment right before they went into the fiery furnace, when they made this huge statement of faith proclaiming, ‘I know God has the power to save us, but even if He doesn’t choose to, we’re not going to bow down to any other. He is still our God.’

“That really struck me, and I thought it was an important message to relate. Growing up in the church, I’ve seen people who have been faithful and still have the floor just ripped out from underneath them. You see that a life of faith does not in any way protect you from that. Especially during those tough times, it’s crucial to remember that we place our faith in God because of who He is and His sovereignty — not because of possible blessings, healings or whatever He can give us.”

This spring, Roberts released her second album, “Time for the Show.” The songs on this album emphasize the hope and security found through a relationship with Christ and were inspired by stories from people she has met while touring across the country.

“My favorite way to write is to get an idea, work on the lyric and to be able to take my time,” she noted. “I’m inspired to write when I hear or see something so important that I can’t help but share it with others, and also when I feel like someone else could be encouraged by it.”

While maintaining a busy touring schedule, Roberts remains committed to use her platform to connect audiences with the gospel message.

“I hope that people realize that they’re not alone in this journey and realize they don’t have to put on a mask and pretend they have it all together,” she said. “Something I’m passionate about is sharing that the Christian community should be a place where we hold each other up, not tear each other down. When people listen to the album, I pray they will be encouraged and realize that Christ provides hope and healing for hearts.”
