ABUJA, Nigeria — Six individuals were slain Aug. 23 in a continued onslaught against Christians in Nigeria.
The six were killed in the villages of Iwari and Olegagbane in Benue state, bringing the total to 38 Christians slain in the same county of Nigeria during July and August. The assailants in the latest attack were armed Muslim Fulani herdsmen, an area resident told media outlets Christian Daily International and Morning Star News.

20 students kidnapped
In another incident in Benue state, gunmen kidnapped 20 medical students traveling along Otukpo-Enugu Highway on Aug. 15. The group was en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students Annual Convention in Enugu city, the news outlets state.
Police rescued the students Aug. 23, a police spokesman told the news services.
Nigeria is No. 6 on Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List of places most difficult to be a Christian. Nigeria has led the world in the number of Christians killed or kidnapped for their faith.
