‘Someone You Should Know’ column coming to state paper

Do you know an Alabama Baptist who has started a new ministry? Has someone in your church mad missions work his life’s work? Have you or a fellow Baptist dedicated her life to winning souls for Jesus Christ?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, The Alabama Baptist needs your help.

In Matthew 5:16, Jesus tells us, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Weekly feature

Following His command, The Alabama Baptist is launching a weekly column called “Someone You Should Know” to highlight the lives of Baptists throughout the state who are making a difference for Jesus Christ.

Bob Terry, editor of The Alabama Baptist, said, “This column is an attempt to encourage readers in their Christian discipleship by highlighting how God is using Alabamians to make a difference for God in their communities and in the lives of others.

“We look forward to sharing this good news in every issue,” he added.

Farrah Holmes, who will be featured for her ministry with young girls, believes that this column will be beneficial not only to its readers but to the people it features.

“All kinds of people have all kinds of ministries in Alabama. A column like this might make them known to the public and get others involved,” Holmes said.

Each “Someone You Should Know” will introduce you to interesting Alabama Baptists like Harriet Wyatt, of West End Baptist Church. Clanton, who was recognized for 44 years of perfect Sunday School attendance. Then there is Troy Halbrooks, Blount Association’s former association moderator, who breeds and sells emus.
