“Living Love and Justice” is the theme of services scheduled for Jan. 16 at Southside Baptist Church, Birmingham.
April Wells will speak at the 11 a.m. service. A minister on the staff of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, Birmingham, Wells is a member of the Birmingham chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the association of Clinical Pastoral Educators.
Birmingham businessman James Head will speak at the 5:30 p.m. service. A resident of Birmingham, Head has been active in the civil rights movement for several decades.
Peggy Sanderford, associate pastor for Christian growth at Southside Baptist Church, said the services are being held in recognition of Martin Luther King’s birthday, which will be observed Monday, Jan. 17.
