BUTLER ASSOCIATION
Spring Creek Baptist Church, Honoraville, celebrated Senior Adult Day on May 5. The church honored its 16 senior adults ranging in age from 85 to 97 years old. The church also hosted a birthday party and lunch. Birthday tables were decorated for each month of the year and family members were invited to attend. The 16 honorees were Eloise Kuczmarski, Willie Claude Foster, Magdalene Grant, Orren Foster McGough, Jane Pritchett Demerse, Edna Carlee Reeves, T.J. Fountain, Stringer Pritchett, Bruce Raymond Perdue, Betty Foster, W.T. Reeves, Hubert Ray Foster, Marvin Hartley, Carolyn Bowden, Daisy Reynolds Bell and Betty Heartsill Yawn.
The children of the church presented each woman with a corsage and each man with a boutonniere and all received an oversized personalized birthday card. A display was set up for each honoree with pictures and memorabilia depicting his or her spiritual gifts and service to the church, community and country. All of the men honored served in a branch of the military.
Kuczmarski was the oldest female honoree and Willie Foster, a lifetime member, was the oldest male honoree. Pritchett had the most family members attending the celebration — more than 25.
Jamie Baldwin, state missionary with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, was the guest speaker for the day. He shared examples of senior men and women from the Bible who God used for His plan and purpose, encouraging all to continue serving no matter their age.
