Two new interns have joined the TAB Media staff this semester, bringing with them a variety of skills and experience.
Megan Harris, a December 2021 graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, will focus on proofreading TAB Media’s print publications and assisting with copy editing. Selah Vetter, a senior at Samford, will write news and feature articles and help with news summaries for the print editions. Both Harris and Vetter will focus mainly on helping produce The Baptist Paper, though they will also assist with The Alabama Baptist.
Both say they are looking forward to the new opportunity.
“As a Christian, I am excited to be able to incorporate my love and passion of journalism with my faith at The Alabama Baptist, a newspaper I have admired for many years now,” Vetter said. “I am excited to be able to use this opportunity to learn and serve within the community of Christ through my writing.”
‘Wonderful team’
Harris said she is enjoying collaborating “with such a wonderful team that has already been so welcoming, supportive and encouraging to me.”
“I’m also looking forward to learning more about the editing process and working in a faith-based environment,” she added. “The stories TAB shares make a difference for the gospel, and I’m grateful for this amazing opportunity to be a part of their work.”
Last spring Harris worked with national Woman’s Missionary Union as a writing and editing intern. She also has experience working as a textbook department assistant at Westminster Christian Academy in Huntsville and as a tutor and student leader at Samford’s writing center.
Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from Samford.
Vetter previously served as a freelance reporter for TAB and as news editor for The Samford Crimson, the university’s campus newspaper. She also has worked as a content producer intern for Bham Now, editorial director for Anchored Passion and an editorial intern for Shelby County newspapers.
She currently is working toward a bachelor’s degree in journalism/mass communication and Spanish.
