Brian Giles is the new advertising director for The Alabama Baptist (TAB).
“Brian brings the needed combination of sales experience, business training, proven leadership and understanding of Baptists that will allow him to represent The Alabama Baptist well,” said Bob Terry, TAB president and publisher. “I have been impressed with him since we met four years ago when he was representing The Tuscaloosa News.
“Advertising is an important part of the state Baptist paper,” he added. “Readers learn about valuable products and services, and the revenue from advertising helps keep the paper affordable for our churches. Brian will help us develop a professional, Christ-honoring service that benefits our readers, our advertisers and the ministry of The Alabama Baptist.”
Giles comes to the state Baptist paper from Signature Offset printing company where he was the Southeast sales representative. Before that, he was the Southeast accounts manager for American Printing in Birmingham.
While at The Tuscaloosa News, Giles served as commercial printing manager and database marketing manager. He also spent about a year as online sales director.
From March to October 2003, Giles was publisher of The Atmore Advance. Prior to this, he served as advertising director for The Natchez Democrat in Mississippi. From 1999 to 2001, he was advertising representative to automotive and real estate companies in the Tuscaloosa area for The Tuscaloosa News.
Giles was a board member for the Tuscaloosa Advertising Federation from 2005 to 2006 and treasurer from 2006 to 2007. He was a member of the University of Alabama’s (UA) Media Planning Board from 2005 to 2006 and 2007 to 2008 and chairman of the board from 2009 to 2010.
Giles holds a bachelor of arts in communication from UA, with a major in advertising and minor in marketing/management.
“I am excited and honored for the opportunity to work with a great organization and great people,” Giles said. “I pray that God will guide me in this role and utilize my talents so that The Alabama Baptist will further prosper in its mission to be a resource for Christian living for Baptists all over the state of Alabama.”
He and his wife, Paula, have two sons and attend Five Points Baptist Church, Northport. (TAB)
