Eighty-five youth converged on Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, April 28 for the 2007 state Speakers Tournament and Bible Drill competitions.
The eight speakers faced off with four-to-six minute speeches, choosing from the topics Fear No Evil; Here Am I, Send Me; and Let It Go. The youth were competing for more than $12,000 in scholarships. (Winners noted in photo below.)
The Bible Drill contestants competed in two age groups — 66 in the youth drill (grades 7–9) and 11 in the high school drill (grades 10–12). (Bible Drill winners noted in photos below.)
Sonya Tucker of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions said, "The drills and tournament went extremely well. We were pleased with the number and quality of participants."
The first-place winner of each Bible Drill competition and the Speakers Tournament will advance to the national Bible Drill in Raleigh, N.C., June 8. (TAB)
