Longtime Alabama Baptist pastor Lester P. Stone died Aug. 2. He was 88.
A member of Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, Stone’s pastoral ministry spanned 60 years. He served as pastor of Northside Baptist Church, West End Baptist Church and Shady Grove Baptist Church, all in Selma and members of Selma Baptist Association.
Stone also served as a church planter with the Home Mission Board (HMB, now the North American Mission Board) in the Northwest and Northeast United States. After retiring in 1981, he served in volunteer assignments with HMB.
Stone was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Marie Rogers Stone, and his brother, Doy Stone. He is survived by a daughter, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three siblings. (TAB)
