The “Sunday School Lessons” page of The Alabama Baptist continues to rank among readers’ favorite sections. And to honor that popularity, the state Baptist paper is making a change to ensure more readers have access to the page.
Beginning in the Sept. 5 issue of The Alabama Baptist, the “Sunday School Lessons” page will be moved farther inside the paper. Currently, the page is printed on the inside back page, but that page is lost if both a church and an association print local editions on the same date.
The local edition newsletters are usually printed on the back page of The Alabama Baptist. But when both a church and its association use the local edition on the same date, the association’s page is printed where the “Sunday School Lessons” page is normally printed.
“The Sunday School Lessons’ page is our most popular feature, yet many of our local edition users have not been able to receive it,” said Editor Bob Terry.
“We want to make sure our readers have access to the most popular features of the paper,” Terry said. “Our mission statement says that we’re to empower our readers to live out Christian discipleship. They cannot live that out without a good biblical background, and the “Sunday School Lessons” make sure they have access to that.”
As for what will be on the back page for those readers who do not receive a local edition and what will fall on the next-to-last page, Terry said the content should be interesting to a variety of people.
For instance, the staff will continue compiling and printing music reviews, book reviews and the top 10 best-sellers list on the back page every third edition of the month. Also, on the inside back page, readers will find news snippets from around the world including information about the persecuted church in other countries.
With this change, the state paper staff hopes to further enhance the vital resource already offered for Alabama Baptists.
