The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on March 2 on whether the nation’s 4,000-plus Ten Commandments displays should be removed from the courthouses, civic buildings and parks where they’re installed. The court’s decision will likely have a sweeping impact on the legality of religious references on all public property. The cases the court will hear in March involve a large monument on the Texas Capitol grounds and a wall posting alongside secular documents in a Kentucky courthouse.
Polls show the public favors the Commandments displays. The U.S. Justice Department and the 26 state attorneys general who filed briefs with the court also support them.
