With The Alabama Baptist Online (www.thealabamabaptist.org) getting more than 100,000 visits each month, we know some of you have noticed our recent technical difficulties.
Due to a “deep, deep error” in the operating system of our Web host, IndustPort LLC, nearly all of the data at The Alabama Baptist Online is temporarily inaccessible, according to Mark Boland, president of IndustPort.
“We sincerely regret that this problem has arisen,” said Bob Terry, editor of The Alabama Baptist. “We know our Web site is becoming increasingly popular, and we are glad it is a resource for Alabama Baptists. We are going to do our best to get it in first-class order and make sure something like this does not happen again.”
Eighty percent of the photos on the site were recovered following the error, but the 20 percent that are still corrupted are keeping the system from accessing the data that remains intact, Boland said.
“We have invested in the best data recovery technologies to recover much of the data. Regretfully not all of the images were able to be reconstructed,” he explained.
It could be several weeks before the site shows any signs of progress, but Terry said The Alabama Baptist is “exploring all the available options” in order to have a properly functioning site available again as soon as possible. (TAB)
