For nearly 30 years, she has had rheumatoid arthritis, which led to more than 50 surgeries on her hands and feet including toe amputations and artificial joints. Yet Taylor serves on the church finance and bereavement committees, leads a ladies prayer group, facilitates women’s Bible studies, substitute teaches in Sunday School and works with Woman’s Missionary Union. She also serves on the board of directors for a local crisis pregnancy center. Taylor has been known to keep cookies and other foods prepared in her freezer to be ready to minister to people when a need arises.

Q: What led you to begin serving in church?
A: It’s my joy to serve the Lord. I don’t work so I want to spend my time serving the Lord. I just like to be flexible to do whatever the Lord needs me to do.

Q: Why have you continued this activity?
A: The love of the Lord and my commitment to Him. I think serving is a reflection of our commitment. If we don’t care about others and serve on His behalf, then we fall short. When I get to heaven, I want to hear Him say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Q: What do you get from the ministry?
A: I get the satisfaction of serving the Lord. I try to do everything as unto Him, keep in mind who I’m serving and try to be a reflection of Him.

Q: How does having arthritis affect your ministry?
A: I have rheumatoid arthritis but it doesn’t have me. I belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. He won’t allow me to give up and I can’t give up. I draw strength from Him, and I don’t accomplish anything without His help.

Q: How do other family members support you?
A: My husband assists me whenever I need him.

Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?
A: I want to keep serving the Lord as long as He allows me to. I just love the Lord with all my heart. I worship and adore my Savior.
