Tennessee River’s Prince a princess among VBS leaders

As Vacation Bible School (VBS) season approaches, churches and associations are in full-preparation mode.

There are how-to clinics to organize, planning meetings to set and Vacation Bible School workers to recruit.

At New Home Baptist Church in Tennessee River Baptist Association, Mae Willow Prince will be the one working to make sure that everything during that week goes as planned.

Prince, a trained artist, uses her creative talents as the Vacation Bible School director at New Home in Scottsboro.

She attributes  all of her ability to Christ. “He gave [me] the gifts,” she explains.

Prince is a registered nurse by trade and a missions volunteer by design.

“I’m a service person, not a sales person,” said Prince.

She demonstrates handyman talents with her ability and willingness to weld, repair small engines, hand Sheetrock and do various home repairs.

Working near and far

Prince, who has traveled as far away as Haiti for missions, also works within her own community. She served as Bible camp nurse on Sand Mountain and studied missions at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church on Gnatt Mountain as well as a Baptist church in Grant.

Born in Marshall County, Prince ended up in Scottsboro with her husband and three children.
