Fear not the sophomore slump ye fans of Tenth Avenue North.

“The Light Meets the Dark,” the second album from Florida’s college-praise-band-turned-worship-rock superstars is every bit as powerful and poignant as the 2008 debut that won them 2009’s Dove Award for New Artist of the Year. Some might argue more so.

The lyrics are more personal, more confessional, and the sound continuing to meld the innovative best of both Jars of Clay and Switchfoot, and even, in dashes, of Coldplay. The record feels like a statement: They’re in it for the long haul.
