News reported by The Alabama Baptist is now available through one of the most visited news Web sites in the state, www.al.com.
With The Alabama Baptist offering the largest source of religious news in Alabama, it only makes sense to make this information available on al.com, said Bob Terry, editor of The Alabama Baptist.
“Alabama Baptists are an important segment of our state, and it is important that everyone has the opportunity to know what is happening among Baptists,” he said.
Al.com is the Internet source of news from The Birmingham News, the Mobile Register and The Huntsville Times, as well as a few other newspapers in the state.
Ken Booth, editor of al.com, said, “Adding stories from The Alabama Baptist to al.com allows us to offer quality Christian-focused content that will appeal to a large number of our readers.
“Because the church plays such an important part in the lives of many Alabama residents, we feel stories from The Alabama Baptist are a wonderful complement to the other news resources available on al.com,” Booth said.
Stories from the state Baptist paper will be placed on www.al.com/alabamabaptist in categories such as news, business, lifestyle and entertainment.
Readers of the Web site, which averages 41 million page views and more than 550,000 different people visiting per month, will now “benefit from an even wider selection of quality stories to choose from,” Booth said.
“We are excited about the opportunity to work with a publication with the long history and quality reputation of The Alabama Baptist,” he added.
The state Baptist paper, which maintains a circulation of 110,000 households and is the largest state Baptist newspaper in the nation, will post its top news stories there each week.
They will be live on al.com each Thursday, the publication date of the paper. The stories will remain in the site’s archives for 60 days before rotating off.
A link to the state paper’s section on al.com will also be included on the paper’s Web site, The Alabama Baptist Online (www.thealabamabaptist.org).
Terry said he hopes readers of al.com will also visit The Alabama Baptist Online to learn about the resources offered there. The Alabama Baptist Online also offers an archive of stories published in the paper since Jan. 1, 2000. (TAB)
