The Faith of George W. Bush

The Faith of George W. Bush

Stephen Mansfield. Lake Marys, Fla.: Charim House, 2003. 200 pp. (Hardback).

Admitting that no one can accurately predict how President Bush will be judged by history, this author is emphatic when he states that Bush’s faith will not be forgotten. Fortunately, Mansfield is up front about the president’s early business failures, marriage difficulties and growing dependence on alcohol in the 1980s. But he focuses on the president’s faith, courage, values and commitments as well.

Not all readers will agree with Bush’s decisions and policies, but Christians are grateful that the man in the White House has a devotional time each morning, alludes to Scripture in his speeches and takes his Christian faith seriously in his work.
