The Perrys
Absolutely Positively Live (Daywind)
There’s no denying the Perrys are one of Southern gospel music’s most exciting family groups on the road today. And, should anyone have any doubt about that statement, one listen to Absolutely Positively Live will dispel those theories. This is a super live album — one of the best to come down the pike in a long time.
Recorded before a wildly enthusiastic audience in Douglas, Ga., this recording features songs from the pens of some of Southern gospel’s all-time great writers — people like Ricky Atkinson, Belinda Smith, Steve Hurt, Wayne Haun, Joel Lindsey, Larry Petree, Phil Cross, Tony Jarman, G.T. (Dad) Speer, Rodney Griffin, Jeff Steele and Marty Funderburk. Armed with songs from that all-star list of writers, the Perrys could do no wrong on Absolutely Pos- itively Live.
It’s a genuine Southern gospel concert from cut one to cut 12. Sure, you’ll find a little musical spice thrown in along the way, but traditional Southern gospel comes shining through on the finished product. Sit back and enjoy the Perrys as they work their way through “In That Number,” “I’m Still Amazed” and “I’ll Pray For You.” You’ll get up from your seat to applaud this group time after time — just as if you were at an all-night singing.
Tracy and Libbi Stuffle, Nicole Watts, David Hill and Dennis Horton — you out-did yourselves this time. To find anyone who will not enjoy this recording is practically an impossible task — and if they don’t enjoy it, they need to have something checked out.
