The Story Lives On: God’s Power Throughout Generations

The Story Lives On: God’s Power Throughout Generations

Wanda S. Lee. Birmingham, Ala.: New Hope Publishers, 2012. 189 pp. (Paperback).

It is not surprising that Wanda Lee would write a book that challenges, encourages and inspires. It’s not surprising she would use the vehicle of stories of missions work to do so — as the executive director of the National WMU, one would expect her mind to be on missions and encouraging others to participate.

In fact, I can’t think of a single really surprising thing about this book, but I can think of a lot of reasons to read it.

In “The Story Lives On,” Lee’s second book, the author uses the power of story, from stories of Jesus and the apostles to career missionaries from the past and present and volunteer missionaries she has encountered, to show others “how Christ has made a difference in our struggles as well as our successes,” and to “help them find a stronger path of their own.”

So while not a book that jolts the reader out of her seat, “The Story Lives On” serves as a gentle reminder of the stories of the faithful from all walks of life
and the need to build our own stories on the foundation of the gospel.
