The Message
Horizon Records
What can one do to top a project that produced three number 1 singles? Well, if you’re the Talley Trio, you know that feeling and just keep on cranking out great music.
On the heels of their hugely successful project, “Hope for Tomorrow,” comes “The Message.” This recording is a collection of songs that display the talent and versatility that the Talley Trio is known for. There is no shortage of tight harmony with this family group. Look no further for class and style. Anything this trio does is done well. With Roger Talley’s producing genius and smooth baritone blend complementing Debra and Lauren Talley’s vocal prowess, you just can’t go wrong.
The songs are all strong in their lyrical content and will leave no doubt as to who and why this group sings. “I Have a Friend” leads off the list of 11 cuts, and is followed by easily the strongest song on the project, “Jesus Saves,” which is the first single.
The group’s remake of “That Wonderful Name” and “Woke Up This Morning” are well done, as is the powerful “I Love the Cross,” which is a strong contender for a second single, along with “The Rest of the Story.”
If you like that soulful sound, you will enjoy “It Ain’t Gonna Worry Me Long,” as well as “Jesus Dropped the Charges.” “His Life for Mine,” “Forever in His Care” and “If You Never Tell Me Why” round out the songs on a project that measures up to the Talley Trio’s standard of excellence.
