At least 51 people were killed recently in three separate attacks as extremists in Nigeria continue to target Christians for persecution.
Nigeria has led the world in the number of Christians killed for their faith or kidnapped. The country is No. 7 on Open Doors’ 2026 World Watch List of the 50 places most difficult to be a Christian.
Deadly attacks
Christian Daily International-Morning Star News gives the following reports on the recent deadly attacks upon Christians:
— Twenty-eight people reportedly were slain March 29 when gunmen opened fire in Gari Ya Waye, a predominantly Christian community in Jos in Nigeria’s Plateau state. Sources say the raid happened in a bustling business area.
— Muslim Fulani herdsmen attacked a venue March 29, firing on wedding reception attendees. Thirteen Christians were killed and dozens were abducted. This attack occurred in Kahir, a predominantly Christian village in Kaduna state, according to sources.
— In Borno state March 30, at least 10 Christians were killed as members of the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram invaded the predominantly Christian village of Kautikari, sources state. Boko Haram is a jihadist militant group whose goal is to install Sharia throughout Nigeria.
