Tournament winner shares truth of Bible

When the world is crumbling under your feet, Jesus is the firm foundation you can always count on,” said Diane Lambuth, winner of the Alabama Youth Speakers Tournament.

Lambuth spoke during Discipleship and Family Week, which was held July 5 at Ridgecrest (N.C.), a LifeWay Conference Center. Lambuth, 15, is a member of First Baptist Church, Flomaton.

“Being Certain in a World with No Absolutes” was the topic of Lambuth’s winning speech. “In today’s world, many people believe truth is relative. What may be wrong for one person is perfectly right for another person,” Lambuth said. “Some go so far as to believe there is no right or wrong.

“While everyone is born with a conscience, many cease to listen to the inner voice that would keep them on a right path,” she said, pointing to the Bible as the Book of eternal truth. Some wonder how a book thousands of years old could still be one of the best-selling books in the world.

“If you begin reading with an open heart and an open mind, you’ll notice something different about it,” she said. “It speaks of a love that could only come from a loving heavenly Father. He is the truth,” she added.

“While some say they could never be as good as the great heroes of the Bible, they were sinners just like everyone who ever walked the face of the earth except Jesus.

“The only way to be certain about anything in this life is to step out on faith and take Jesus into your heart. Only then can you be certain,” she concluded.
