Tunnell to join communications staff of Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes

Erin W. Tunnell, assistant editor of The Alabama Baptist, will be leaving her position at the newspaper to become communications manager of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries (ABCH), effective May 23. Tunnell’s last day at The Alabama Baptist is May 15.

"I’m grateful for everything that I’ve learned while at The Alabama Baptist, and I’m looking forward to utilizing that knowledge at an organization such as the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries," she said. "I’m happy to be staying within the Alabama Baptist family and look forward to serving in my new role."

Tunnell, who has been a part of the state paper’s staff for five years, has won multiple national awards during that time for her photography, news writing, editing and design work.

"Erin is an award-winning writer and photographer who has contributed greatly to the professional quality of The Alabama Baptist during her five years here," said Bob Terry, editor of the state paper. "She is also a strong Christian who loves the Lord. We will miss her but are glad that she is able to move to a position in Baptist life where her talents and skills will continue to be used in the Lord’s service."

In her new role at ABCH, Tunnell will coordinate ABCH’s visibility in The Alabama Baptist and serve as editor of the entity’s magazine, LifePrints.

She will also write stories, capture photos of the ministry and help with Web site improvement and advertising.

"We’re looking forward to her coming," said Paul Miller, ABCH executive director. "We love her experience and her enthusiasm and think she will be a good match for us." (TAB)
