Two associations, Beeson start Bible institute

Bethlehem and Pine Barren Baptist associations have teamed up with Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham to establish a Bible institute through the school’s extension division.

The first course offered by the institute, Understanding the Bible, will be taught by Kevin Castleberry, minister of discipleship/missions for First Baptist Church, Monroeville, in Bethlehem Association. It will run for eight weeks, beginning March 31, and meet on Mondays from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the shared associational office in Frisco City.

Participants will work through the book "Understanding the Bible" as part of a general introduction to the Bible and biblical history. Upon completion of the course, they will receive a diploma.

According to John Marks, director of missions for Bethlehem and Pine Barren associations, there are plans to offer additional courses each winter and spring.

Anyone interested, whether a pastor or layman, is welcome to register for the Understanding the Bible course either the first night or by contacting the associational office at 251-267-3875.
