Two Alabama Baptists were among five music ministers recently honored with top awards from the National Religious Music Week Alliance.
Wayne Baggett, minister of music and senior adults at Southside Baptist Church, Decatur, in Morgan Baptist Association, and Sam Neugent, associate pastor of worship and missions at First Baptist Church, Pelham, in Shelby Baptist Association, both won an award of distinction in the alliance’s 2006 Ministry of Music Awards program.
The Hamilton, Ohio-based alliance, founded in 1995, conducts the annual awards program to focus credit upon the work of religious music directors. The aim is to recognize outstanding men and women for exemplary work in developing religious music programs within their places of worship, according to Kevin Samblanet, chairman of the awards committee.
Several hundred music ministers from different denominations nationwide were nominated for the awards.
