UM business school achieves accreditation

The University of Mobile (UM) School of Business has been awarded accreditation through June 2012 by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

“Professional accreditation means that our school of business has been stringently examined through both a self-study and a site visit, and that our degree programs are recognized as being of the highest quality,” said Anne Lowery, dean of the school of business. Programs offered through the school of business include bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration and computer information systems and the master’s degree in business administration.

The UM school of business is among 131 four-year colleges and universities in the United States that are accredited by ACBSP, a professional accrediting body for collegiate business schools and programs.

The accrediting process involves a rigorous self-study by the school of business faculty followed by an on-site evaluation by an accrediting team.

The primary emphasis of ACBSP is to encourage excellent teaching within member organizations and to continually evaluate teaching effectiveness. Its mission is to establish, promote and recognize educational standards that contribute to the continual improvement of business education, and to recognize business schools and programs that adhere to these standards.
