The University of Mobile (UMobile) Reading Council was cited as “one of the most successful reading programs in the state of Alabama” by Betty Fowler, state coordinator of the ALA-STAR Award program of the Alabama Reading Association.
Fowler presented the ALA-STAR award to the UMobile Reading Council during a combined meeting in December of the university’s Kappa Delta Pi education honor society and SLATE, the Student Leaders Association for Teacher Education. The UMobile Reading Council was among 10 reading councils in the state that received the award, and one of seven to be named to the Alabama Reading Association Honor Council.
This is the fourth consecutive year the UMobile Reading Council has received the ALA-STAR award, which is given in recognition of the council’s efforts to promote literacy.
