Jeff Jones, Dove Award-winning drummer with the contemporary Christian band Big Daddy Weave and an entrepreneur with a custom drumstick business, discussed the realities of life after graduation Nov. 10 at the University of Mobile (UMobile).
Jones, a 1996 graduate of UMobile, talked to university juniors and seniors at the Life After Graduation event sponsored by the school’s Student Success Center. The students who attended received a copy of his new book, “Drumming Up Business to the Beat of My Own Drum.”
He described “the illusion that many students have about getting a job with a pension and 401(k), staying there for 30 years, taking retirement and getting a gold watch.”
“Those days are few and far between,” Jones said. “I stress the need to find a niche idea that will set you apart from the pack and make you extremely valuable as an employee.”
