A Union University student was found dead in her car on the school's campus in Jackson, Tenn., Feb. 12.
Olivia Greenlee, 21, was found in her 2001 Toyota Corolla in a parking lot behind Luther Hall with an apparently fatal gunshot wound.
Investigators have not ruled the death a suicide or homicide and are trying to gather needed information to figure out how she died. A gun was found inside the car, according to a Jackson Police Department release.
On Union’s website, current president David S. Dockery made the following statement: “We are sad to learn of the death of our student, Olivia Greenlee, a senior music major from Dyersburg. As we learn additional information, we will seek to share it with the Union community. Until then, please join us in praying for the family and friends of Olivia, and for the entire Union community in this hour of need.”
Classes were canceled Feb. 13 in honor of the Greenlee family.
A special prayer service for the Greenlee family and in honor of Olivia Greenlee will be held Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. at Union’s G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.
