The University of Mobile (UMobile) announces the addition of men’s and women’s outdoor track and field athletic programs beginning in fall 2014. UMobile athletic director Joe Niland said the next step will be to hire a coach who will start recruiting this spring and developing the programs.
The Rams will have 15 intercollegiate sports competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and Southern States Athletic Conference beginning fall 2014. Currently UMobile competes in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s baseball and women’s softball.
The university previously had outdoor track and field programs from 1993 to 2004.
