There was something for everyone Oct. 27–28 at the University of Mobile (UM) as current students, alumni, faculty and staff and their families and friends gathered for UM’s Homecoming & Family Weekend.
Michelle Drashman, director of alumni and parent relations, called the weekend "our widest attended and most entertaining homecoming event to date."
Activities included concerts by The Michael Warren Band, Eliot Morris, Jason Morant, Lift and Seraph; a soccer game, featuring a victory by UM’s Lady Rams over the Spring Hill Lady Badgers; a fish and shrimp fry; special events for alumni, including an Alumni Choir performance; a Student Government Association reunion; special events for parents, including a meet-and-greet with professors; and a big fall carnival, featuring laser tag, a bungee run, inflatable jousting, a dunking booth, a triple sports cage and much more.
Matt Scott of Hoover and Neesha Roberts of Anniston were crowned UM’s Homecoming King and Queen.
Other members of the university’s homecoming court included: Senior Court — Anna Aswell of Carbon Hill; Arrie Flowers of Longmont, Colo.; Brandy Goins of Chickasaw; Lindsey Lunsford of Daphne; Daniel Atkins of Demopolis; Drew Braden of Montgomery; Josh Hornady of Monroeville; and Jordan Squires of Semmes; and Junior Court — Kourtney Campbell of Creola; Nikki Ellis of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Amanda Green of Birmingham; and Alanna Huckabee of Thomasville.
Two class gift checks for scholarship funds were also presented to UM President Mark Foley during the weekend.
The first, a $5,400 check, was from the charter class of 1967 in support of its scholarship fund. The second, a $41,770 check, was from overall alumni giving toward the annual scholarship fund for the past year. (UM)
