MOBILE — The University of Mobile (UM) board of trustees approved on April 24 a three-year strategic plan as well as a comprehensive fund-raising campaign to construct a student center, renovate campus facilities, provide scholarships and endow faculty chairs.
UM President Mark Foley said the strategic plan, Enhancing the Experience, will guide the university into the year 2010. The plan encompasses five overall initiatives that will drive the progress and planning of all areas of the university. The initiatives are: develop a culture of excellence in the teaching/learning process; develop a university culture that incorporates Christian worldview into the entire fabric of university life; develop a culture that attracts students eager to grow academically, spiritually and socially; develop a secure financial future for the university; and develop a culture that promotes leadership and change-agency.
The five-year, $14.7 million-plus fund-raising campaign will include $10 million for construction of a student center and $4.7 million for capital facility enhancements, plus unspecified amounts for scholarships and creation of endowed faculty chairs.
In other action, the board approved a $20.2 million budget for fiscal year 2007–2008.
