Valley Head church helps needy students

Valley Head Baptist Church in DeKalb Association has joined with Southern Bible Institute in an effort to help Alabama’s children.

“Project Edupak” is the idea of Pastor Charles Jenkins and was created as a way to help the local community in areas of need. The project involves the donation of storage containers filled with school supplies for children in need of assistance. Principals were contacted for the number of children in their school who qualify for assistance.

Anyone interested in participating in the project should do the following: purchase a clear storage container of any size; determine the grade level you wish to assist; fill the container with pencils, pens, notebooks, ruler, glue, compass and other supplies that are appropriate for the grade level; include a $5 check in a sealed envelope designating the grade level. Any additional donations will go toward the purchase of workbooks for the child. Deadline is Aug. 10.

Send containers to: Valley Head Baptist Church, 265 Church St., Valley Head, AL 35989. For more information, contact the church office at: 256-635-3359.
